Career Overview:

I attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I studied fashion design and painting. At the annual fashion show I was hand picked by a Broadway costume designer to work at his studio. My career then started in New York City, where I worked for a broadway costume designer William Ivey Long for the show “Grey Gardens”. After which I worked in private couture studios in the garment district of New York City with various designers and also working closely with local factories; where I learn conversational Mandarin Chinese and made long lasting friendships. I then designed, sewed and installed custom-made bed furnishings for three bedrooms at Martha Stewart’s residence in Bedford, NY. Soon after I spent time working at POLO Ralph Lauren, where I gained a deep knowledge for American Preppy Sportswear. It was a turning point in my career as knitwear designer as it was a creative environment where I was able to focus my passion for knitwear; from the technical perspective to aesthetic. I went to seek new adventures and moved to Stockholm Sweden where I designed the entire Men’s Knitwear collection for GANT. Where I was exposed to the important balance of creating a holistic collection, through a business lens and perspective. I was able to learn more about how to quickly pivot to the ever-changing marketplace; while gaining the global skill of strategic planning and product presentation.

Personal Credo:

I have been a maker and creator since I was a child always being fascinated with the metamorphosis of one material into another, whether it was turning yarn into a winter ski hat or a blank canvas into painted landscape. My motivation and source energy to create objects of beauty came from the desire to learn new ways of self expression through personal adornment with the observational curiosity of an artist. I’m a perennial student of the arts and skilled crafts. I love to learn and more importantly I love to share with others the magical gift of visual expression.
